A Message from Raima
CEO, Steinar Sande

RAIMA thanks you for your business in 2010!

Birdstep Technology Inc. formally changed its name to Raima Inc. earlier this year. Those of you who have been with us for a while probably remember that Raima was the original name of the company when it was founded in 1982. Additionally, in late August this year, Raima Inc. was divested from its parent company Birdstep Technology ASA through a management buyout.

I am truly pleased to announce that we are now an independent company where the main focus will continue to be data management. This is a very exciting time for everyone here at Raima; some of the excitement will result in new product announcements in Q1 2011.

One thing that hasn't changed is our commitment to conduct business with uncompromising honesty and integrity. Our sole focus is to provide our customers and the development community with advanced technology with superior quality, value and service. This includes the development of the most innovative and reliable database solutions to meet our customer's growing needs. We are also dedicated to recognizing the great value of our employees and will continue to develop their diverse talents, initiative and leadership.

Raima 2011

RDM Embedded 10.0 was a huge undertaking by our Engineering team. The result is an advanced, flexible and extendable version of our widely deployed RDM database product. RDM Embedded has the high reliability you expect of a product that has been deployed worldwide over the past 25 years. Going forward, Raima will continue to develop RDM Embedded and RDM Server to meet the growing and emerging requirements in areas such as distributed databases, interoperability, high availability and scalability.

The Economy and Raima

2010 has been a challenging year for many businesses. I predict that 2011 will be a year where frugality is still a focus of most companies. Yet I see that there are some rays of sunlight flickering through those dark clouds. When the Raima 2010 books are closed they will show that we increased our revenue compared to last year by 9% and with a positive EBITDA. We thank you our loyal customers for your trust and commitment in Raima. We are committed to supporting your business goals and will help you to develop and bring even more competitive products to the market in a timely and cost effective manner.

Once again, thank you for your business in 2010. We are looking forward to 2011 and will do our utmost to exceed your expectations of our products, support and our organization.

If you have any thoughts or ideas in how we can make Raima better let me know by dropping me an email at steinar.sande@raima.com - I would highly appreciate your thoughts.

Happy Holidays and Prosperous New Year from all of us at Raima.

Best Regards,

Steinar

A Message from Bill Houglum,
V.P. Engineering & Services

Anxiety will surface when experienced software development managers hear the words "extensive re-design" associated with a software product that they may depend upon. The good news for anxious development managers is that there are two key factors supporting our excitement and confidence with the release of RDM Embedded 10.0.

The first key factor is the simplified configuration. Fewer choices allows for wider and deeper coverage of the product in those configurations. The simplified configuration has allowed more extensive integration into our automated build and test framework. Not only does simplified configuration allow for easier integration into the test framework, it also allows for easier integration into the customer application.

The second key factor is automated test framework. The reduction of configuration options allowed easier integration into the automated build and test framework. The core engine and components currently are executing nearly 103 million test cases during an automated test run providing over 85% coverage of the database engine (lines of code). The automated build system is generating 150 installation packages. Test automation currently covers 90% of the testing on 144 of the installation packages on 18 operating system platforms and architectures. Automation means more time writing tests rather than running tests.

Regards,

Bill
